Power Challenge Lifter Information
1:13 pm
Dear Lifters of the 24th annual RPS Power Challenge,
This info is in regards to the Covid protocol we will follow to keep in guidance with the Massachusetts Executive Orders. Irregardless of your personal thoughts of the orders, everyone will be following them so as not to cause any consequences to the MetFIT facility and the MetFIT Owners. We are their guest as they are the Host Venue for the power Challenge. Out of respect for their facility and members, we will abide by these rules and protocols.
Everyone must wear a mask, unless you are lifting. That is for spectators, coaches, and staff. If you are a lifter (wearing a singlet), we ask that as much as possible, you wear a mask. You will not be required to wear a mask while on the platform. We are lifters too, and know how important Breathing is when you are under a Max attempt.
The current plan, is to break the Saturday session into 3 flights (women and Men up to 198’s), and the Sunday session into 3 flights (Men 220 and up). This will allow, roughly 11-12 lifters per flight, and flight times of about 10-12 minutes between attempts. We are asking that the odd flight out, While not warming up, or not in the lifting flight, please don a mask. RPS recently ran a Meet in Lakeville Mass, and one item the Health Inspector asked, was to keep as many masks on people as possible.
Social distancing is tough to do in a Meet, however, this applies more to the spectators and coaches. Due to the current Covid situation, we have to space everyone out as much as possible. As well, we are limited to one additional person per lifter. Please convey this info to any other person that may be accompanying you. MetFIT staff will be keeping a count at the entry, limiting entrance to people. As is the usual norm, Spectators/Coaches are $10 for an entry.
There will be sanitizer and disinfectant throughout MetFIT, and available to everyone, please use it as needed.
Due to the restrictions that Massachusetts has, we are running a smaller platform than we usually do. We will be using MetFIT’s equipment to warm up. We ask that you please respect that equipment as you warm-up. Additionally, we will have a crew to operate the Monolift in the warm-up area. This is MetFIT equipment, so please respect this and they will operate it for you. Additionally, we will not have shared chalk bowls. We will haev small chunks of Chalk in baggies for you, or you may bring your own.
If you are feeling sick, or believe you may have been possibly exposed, we ask that you stay home. If you decide to stay home, we will credit you for a future RPS Meet.
Early next week, we will be emailing out the Lifter Email, regarding Weigh-ins and Openers. Look for it, and please respond when you can. Having your openers sooner, allows us to set up the flights and post them sooner.
Through all of this, we at RPS, Thank you for understanding all the pieces in play, and what we have to do to run a socially distant Meet under the Covid Restrictions of Massachusetts.
We want thank both Robert Popp and Ronald Drago for all they do as the host of the 24th Power Challenge, and as Lifters in RPS.
Please if you have any questions, don’t hesitate ask. I would rather you ask now, than be nervous and have questions on the day of the Meet.
