DUE TO THE DRAMATIC CHANGE IN STATE POLICIES ON FRIDAY 3/13 THE MEET HAS BEEN POSTPONED.
Date to be Determined – Once the State and Community regulations on travel and community distancing have been lifted it will be evaluated if there is an appropriate time to reschedule, keeping in mind additional events already scheduled in New England.
The original stance to continue with the venue move was based on the time, efforts and finances spent by competitors to get to this point in training. However with at least the next two weeks of most of our lives being disrupted by the measures to contain the virus, I feel it is now better to make the decision to postpone earlier rather than later when it may be absolutely forced. The option to have the competition without spectators was discussed, but the hour-by-hour changes in state regulations makes this a guessing game.
Lifters should expect to see an update request that is sent by the scoring system (how openers are requested) to identify if they want a refund or have a credit held for the reschedule of this event or date later in the year (Power Challenge scheduled for 10/10-11). If you do not receive an update request (may go to your spam folder) please email the address below.
A Note on Refunds – The Paypal processing fee will not be refunded, this is their policy, only the meet entry cost will be refunded. The refunds will be processed as quickly as Paypal allows me to process them. When I had to do this when Gene passed, they accused me of being a computer because I was able to expedite the process that they have in place. It is painfully slow when doing multiple refunds.
Personally, I am heartbroken to first have to move the event from a community that welcomed powerlifitng and provided us with as many amenities as they could. Our event a large contributor to their Fourth of July celebration. Second, the disappointment for those who have been training and preparing for months for an event that is so well attended. Lastly because I will not be spending time with the many of you that have become my family. When the time comes for us to start living again, to rise above the fear, RPS will still be there with a platform where we can stand strong.
